This is why my wife won’t let me have one, along with being a total klutz.

I once accidentally saw a picture of someone’s foot after a motorcycle crash. I’ve always made sure my boots are tied tight after that.

I know a kid who lost a finger when he laid out his Buell. He was in my auto tech class in college. He left for lunch on his rumbley yellow sort bike, and came back 2 hours later with 9 fingers.

Ooof, you want dark?
Every once in a while I will google image search “motorcycle wreck (or accident)” because I want a photo of a motorcycle on the ground, or one with damage. Sometimes I want it to photoshop something, sometimes I want to reply to a comment with it. Sometimes I get what I want, but sometimes OMG
Don’t do that. The photos of grizzly human injuries and dismemberment is hard to forget.

Saw a helmet cam video of a dude doing around 200mph on a busa, got a speed wobble and went into a guard rail. The view then cut to another dudes helmet cam as he walked up to the accident and there’s just a leg chillin’ on the ground. Then another leg in two pieces a bit further along. then the torso halfway up a tree. Oddly no blood which made it very surreal because it all just looked like pieces of meat sitting on the ground.

My mom used to work for an ambulance service in rural Illinois. She said that picking up a victim of a motorcycle crash who wasn’t wearing a helmet was like picking up a bag of marbles.

My wife’s step dad has been in three (four?) wrecks. Somehow he’s still alive, I think mostly because he’s a tough, crusty customer. One of those wrecks he darn near didn’t make it. She’s told me in no uncertain terms that the day I buy a motorcycle is the day she files for divorce. Not because she’s a fun-killer, but because she can’t go through that kind of worry again.
Fortunately she is completely on board with eventually getting a convertible in which to enjoy the wind in our faces. I’m good with that - the drivers around here are awful at watching for motorcycles.

Get a Wrangler, drop the windshield (and of course lose the doors) and you have a much safer vaguely motorcyclish experience.

Makes sense. A quick disconnect from the old blood pump gives no pressure to the separated bits,

Not gonna lie, I’d laugh if I was dismembered on the ground, and someone took my severed hand like that. I mean, in that position, what else can you really do but laugh?

Ouch. Related: RevZilla has a ton of stuff on closeout right now, and are adding more things every week for the holiday season.

My wife gets after me every so often for not wearing a ring. We’ve been married just over a decade now, and stuff like this makes me glad she hasn’t been insistent.

The first dead body I ever saw(outside of a funeral) was a motorcycle crash. It was during the Trail of Tears run when it went through where I grew up. Dude ran a light and got hit by a truck. We passed by before the cops could shut it down, and he was just laying there. It was pretty dark.

I once casually flipped open a book on the counter a friend’s house. Turns out he was studying to be an EMT and the page I opened to was about what’s known as ‘degloving’ and featured plenty of pictures...

people who ride without a helmet either never had a get off or have a death wish, i went over the handle bars only going about 30 and there would be three less kiddos in the world if i wasn’t wearing a full coverage helmet

I actually bought a four pack of those a while back, and one of them is sitting next to me. I still find it uncomfortable, but definitely less so than a metal one, and it’s a lot nicer to not have to worry about it grounding me to something or ripping my finger off.
